After 20 months, we are excited to launch the College of Science Strategic Plan 2015-2020 entitled, “LEAD - Learn, Engage, Achieve, Discover: Global Excellence in Science. Science is the heart of any university and its success critically depends on the strength of its college of science. Our mission is to advance science and build the next generation of diverse leaders and innovators in science.
Thanks to the many individuals who assisted in our efforts including faculty, staff, students, OSU leadership, our Research Council and Board of Advisors. We worked with Art & Science Group, a leading consulting firm specializing in higher education based in Washington, D.C , to execute the data collection from leaders in science and our peers, faculty, students and campus leaders.
Centered around our people, our planet and our shared prosperity, the plan focuses on three goals:
- To build a diverse and inclusive Science community focused on excellence.
- To be a global leader in scientific research and scholarship for a better world.
- To excel in outreach, engagement, visibility and economic development.
We are creating Working Groups of science faculty, staff, and students to develop specific tactics to implement the goals and 15 strategies outlined in the plan. We have identified several strategies to accomplish by 2016 with the remainder to be executed by 2020.
