Science reception honors record number of graduates

Graduation reception for college of science students

Commencement is an important milestone to mark before graduates’ transition to the next chapter of their lives. The College hosted science graduates and their families at an outdoor reception in their honor on June 10 from 4:00 – 5:30 pm on the Valley Library Quad in front of Kidder Hall.

Science faculty, staff and advisors celebrated with the soon-to-be graduates.

The College of Science graduated a record 596 students with baccalaureate degrees in 2015-16, including 73 honors baccalaureates. This represents a 34% increase from last year. In terms of graduate degrees, the College graduated 47 master's candidates and 50 Ph.D. candidates. This is the highest number of doctoral degrees the College has awarded in recent years.

The celebration featured a reception with a globally inspired menu, festive cupcakes, and refreshing beverages. Dean Pantula and OSU Alumni Association Executive Director Kathy Bickel said a few words to graduates and wished them well.

Graduates posed for selfies at a photo booth with backdrops of different science majors and received a special gift to recognize their graduation from the College of Science.

The College is extremely proud of all of our graduates. It has truly been a privilege to see you shine at OSU!
