The College of Science invites all students and their families to join us for special events as part of Spring Family Weekend May 5-6, 2017. This year we are teaming up with the Honors College to co-host the following events for all science and Honors College students! We look forward to welcoming your family to campus.
Space is limited so RSVP today.
Note: The talent show is a free but ticketed event—you need to RSVP to reserve your tickets and pick them up at the College of Science dean’s office, 128 Kidder Hall, before the event.
We are hosting a unique and arts and science event, “The Colorful World of Pigments” celebrating the blue pigment, YInMN Blue, that was discovered by Chemistry Professor Mas Subramanian in 2009, the first in nearly 200 years. The discovery has gone viral this past year with millions of viewers around the world. The event will be held on Friday, May 5 in the LaSells Stewart Center Austin Auditorium and Gallery from 9 a.m. – noon.
The event kicks off with an interactive art event for children and adults. Local and student artists will exhibit their work, many of which feature YInMn blue pigments. The main event is an invigorating panel discussion featuring guest speakers from Nike, The Shepherd Color Company, Harvard University’s Pigments Museum and a guest with a special surprise announcement. See full schedule below.
We’ve got talent! Join us for a joint College of Science and Honors College student talent show and a light brunch at the Learning Innovation Center from 9-11:30 on Saturday, May 6. The art show will feature student paintings, sculpture, and mixed media items and the student talent show is sure to amuse. There’s still time to sign up for the art and/or talent show! Register here by April 28.
